The cast of Disney’s Aladdin were invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to perform as surprise guests at The White House for the 2015 Kids’ “State Dinner”. This fourth-annual event was part of the “Healthy Lunchtime Challenge” to promote cooking and healthy eating among young people across the nation. Kids ages 8-12 were invited to join a parent or guardian in creating an original recipe that is healthy, affordable, and delicious. One winner from each U.S. state, territory, and the District of Columbia was selected, and all were invited to the big event on July 10th, 2015. Select members of the cast of Aladdin, which included Adam Jacobs, James Monroe Iglehart, Courtney Reed among others ensemble members, came down from NYC for the special performance. Numbers included “Arabian Nights”, “Proud Of Your Boy”, “Whole New World”, “Friend Like Me”, and “Somebody’s Got Your Back”.
